Can it edit files?

How Observation Works

No. The observer never edits, adds or removes your files. It only looks and records what it sees.

How it stays hands-off

Each time SyncNow checks a project, it connects to your FTP server read-only. It lists what is there, compares it to what it saw last time, works out what changed, and writes those facts to a timeline. At no point does it modify, create or remove any of your project files.

The only files it ever writes are its own - a snapshot and an append-only journal inside the hidden .sync folder. That is bookkeeping about your project, not a change to it.

What about AI assistants?

Files can still change on your site - just not by the observer. If you let an AI assistant work on a project, it makes its edits through SyncNow's safe proxy during a work session, and every change is logged. The watcher described here stays read-only at all times.
