A session lasts as long as it stays active, with an expiry as a backstop so no project is ever locked forever.
When a session starts it carries an expiry: a point in time after which the turn lapses on its own. While the assistant keeps sending heartbeats and doing work, the session stays live. If it goes quiet or reaches its expiry, SyncNow releases the lock and the project returns to Free.
Three ways a session ends
- END - the clean way: the assistant finishes and hands over a changelog.
- Expiry - the time limit passes, or heartbeats stop and the grace period elapses.
- Revoke - you, or SyncNow, pull the session early.
Why a limit at all
Expiry is a safety net. If an assistant crashes or a PC goes offline, you do not want the project stuck as Busy indefinitely. The time limit guarantees the turn always comes back. The expiry is shown right on the Busy badge alongside who holds the session and their objective, so you always know roughly when the project frees up.
